Flutterwave Transfers on Render or Replit? Check Your Outbound IP

Before changing your Render or Replit backend to fix a Flutterwave connection, identify the API operation and the public IP address making the request. For Flutterwave v3 transfers, source IP allowlisting is a prerequisite. Your app's public website address does not establish its outbound identity.

Start with the transfer operation

Flutterwave's transfer prerequisites require allowlisting the servers making Transfer API calls. This applies to the v3 transfer flow, including POST /v3/transfers. Its transfer-testing documentation also requires allowlisting.

Keep that requirement separate from collecting a checkout payment, verifying a transaction, or resolving bank-account details. Those are different operations; the transfer rule does not establish a universal requirement for every Flutterwave request. Check the exact endpoint, environment, and account policy before deciding that an IP restriction explains an error.

Webhooks travel in the opposite direction: Flutterwave calls your application. An outbound proxy does not change that connection. Follow Flutterwave's webhook signature-verification guidance for incoming notifications.

Compare the routes your host actually offers

  • Render shared outbound ranges: Render publishes regional ranges, and a service can use any address within its associated ranges. Consider these only if Flutterwave confirms it accepts the complete required ranges. Flutterwave's documented individual-IP entry flow does not establish CIDR support.
  • Render Dedicated IPs: The native option provides three exclusive IPv4 addresses per regional set on Pro workspaces and higher, for an additional charge. Check service eligibility, region, and environment scope, and confirm Flutterwave accepts all three addresses. A suitable native route may already solve the problem.
  • Replit: A Reserved VM provides continuously running compute; that description alone does not guarantee fixed outbound IPs. A custom-domain address is not proof of fixed egress either. If you have an Enterprise networking agreement or customer-cloud deployment, confirm its outbound addresses and covered workloads. Customer-cloud options have availability and onboarding conditions.

QuotaGuard is an option when you need a managed static pair for selected backend clients or the same outbound identity across hosts. Stable addresses can be shared: QuotaGuard's direct-billing Starter, Production, and Business plans use shared pairs. Choose a dedicated option if your destination policy requires exclusive addresses.

Configure the client that opens the connection

With a proxy route, store the authenticated connection URL as a server-side secret in the intended runtime. Then configure the HTTP client actually issuing the Flutterwave request to use it, through that client's supported proxy agent, dispatcher, or transport setting. Saving an environment variable alone does not demonstrate that requests use the proxy.

Check SDKs and background workers separately. Configuring one HTTP client does not configure an unrelated SDK's internal client. Keep Flutterwave keys and proxy credentials out of browser code. Replit Static deployments have no backend for this work. For workloads requiring PCI-DSS support, use QuotaGuard Shield; a proxy alone does not establish application compliance.

Check egress without moving money

From the deployed backend, request https://ip.quotaguard.com through the same configured client and compare the returned address with the subscription's dashboard pair. Register both assigned addresses with Flutterwave, even if a short check shows only one. Check each worker or runtime that needs this route.

This establishes that client's egress. It does not prove another SDK uses the proxy, that Flutterwave accepted the allowlist, or that a transfer succeeded. Do not initiate a payment or transfer as a connectivity test.
