Changelog
Current versions of the QuotaGuard client tools, what changed in each release, and how to pin a version in your build.
Releases are infrequent. There may be a couple in a year, and some years none. You do not need to check this page on a schedule: subscribe to the Atom feed in your feed reader or in a Slack channel, and you will see new releases when they are published.
The -latest download names (for example qgtunnel-latest.tar.gz) always serve the version marked current below. Every release is also published under its own version number, and a versioned file never changes after it is published.
QGTunnel
Opens a local port that forwards to a remote host through your QuotaGuard proxy, for database and other TCP connections that cannot use a proxy directly. See the QGTunnel documentation.
Current version: 2.7.7 (the default download since October 27, 2026).
QGTunnel 2.7.7
Released October 13, 2026.
- QGTunnel now closes its connection to the proxy as soon as your application is done with a tunnel, instead of waiting for the proxy side to close. Applications that open many short-lived tunnels no longer hold idle connections.
- On a plain (non-encrypted) tunnel, a half-close from your application now reaches the destination, the same as it would on a direct connection.

QGTunnel 2.7.6
Released August 10, 2026.
- The hostname override used by transparent tunnels is now safe for applications that resolve hostnames from several threads at the same time.
- The hosts file QGTunnel writes for that override is now written atomically, so an application can never read a partially written file.

QGTunnel 2.7.5
Released March 4, 2026.
- Adds a Linux arm64 build.

QGTunnel 2.7.4
Released August 27, 2025.
- Connections are now fully released when a tunnel closes, so long-running processes that open and close many tunnels no longer grow in memory.
- Fixes race conditions when tunnels are opened and closed concurrently.
- Versions 2.7.1 through 2.7.3 were interim builds released the same week. Use 2.7.4.

QGTunnel 2.7.0
Released March 2, 2024.
- Every log line is prefixed with [QGTUNNEL] so it is easy to filter in your application logs.
- The Windows build is distributed as a .zip.

qgpass
Runs alongside your application on QuotaGuard Shield and passes HTTP and HTTPS traffic through the proxy with the credentials handled for you. See the qgpass documentation.
Current version: 1.3.0 (the default download since October 27, 2026).
qgpass 1.3.0
Released October 12, 2026.
- qgpass now closes its connection to the proxy as soon as your application finishes with an HTTPS tunnel, instead of waiting for the proxy side to close. Applications that make many short-lived HTTPS requests no longer hold idle connections.
- Adds the version command (bin/qgpass version).
Downloads:
qgpass 1.2.0
Released March 2, 2024.
- qgpass can run as a standalone process as well as a wrapper that starts your application.
- Every log line is prefixed with [QGPASS].

Pinning a version
To make sure every build of your application gets the same binary, download the versioned file instead of -latest. For example, for QGTunnel 2.7.7 on Linux:
curl https://s3.amazonaws.com/quotaguard/qgtunnel-2.7.7.tar.gz | tar xz
Move to a newer version on your own schedule by changing the number. Older versions than the ones listed here remain available under the same naming pattern.
Checking which version you have
Run the binary with the version argument:
bin/qgtunnel version
bin/qgpass version
The qgpass version command is available from 1.3.0. An older qgpass prints a usage message instead.
