How to Complete 3D Secure Authentication When Signing Up
Table of contents
When you sign up for QuotaGuard, your card issuer may require an extra security check called 3D Secure (3DS). This check confirms that you are the legitimate cardholder. It is controlled by your bank, not by QuotaGuard.
Depending on your bank, the check may ask for a password, a one-time code sent to your phone, or biometric verification. In some cases, the bank can approve the check without asking you to do anything.
Complete 3D Secure during sign-up
- Follow the steps in Registering an Account until you reach the Stripe payment form.
- Enter your card and billing details, confirm that the selected plan and trial length are correct, and click Start Trial.
- If your bank displays an authentication window or redirects you to an authentication page, follow the bank’s instructions. Complete every requested step, such as entering a one-time code or approving the payment in your banking app.
- After the bank accepts the authentication, allow the process to return you to QuotaGuard and wait for confirmation that sign-up is complete.
The authentication screen can look different from the QuotaGuard website because the card-issuing bank controls it. Stripe explains that an authenticated payment proceeds to payment processing; if authentication fails, another payment attempt or payment method is required.
If the authentication was not completed
If you see a message such as “The cardholder began 3D Secure authentication but has not completed it,” the card payment did not finish its required security step.
Try the payment again and make sure you complete the bank’s authentication prompt before returning to or closing the QuotaGuard page. If the bank rejects the authentication or you cannot complete its prompt, try another card or contact the card issuer for help with its 3D Secure process.
If you completed the bank’s prompt but your QuotaGuard account was not created, contact QuotaGuard Support. Include the email address used to sign up, but do not email your full card number, security code, password, or one-time authentication code.
A note for cards issued in India
India-issued cards can require additional authentication when a recurring-payment mandate is created. Stripe states that this mandate registration uses an additional factor such as 3D Secure. Authentication requirements can also apply again to some recurring charges. Complete the bank’s full prompt even though you are signing up for a subscription rather than making a one-time purchase.
